Opening Doors: The Medical Center of Southeast Texas is Expanding to Better Serve You

Summary: The Medical Center of Southeast Texas has two conveniently located hospitals and the largest physician group in Southeast Texas. We’re here for ALL your health care needs.

Port Arthur, TX (July 15, 2019) – As the local healthcare market shifts, The Medical Center of Southeast Texas has a markedly singular mission: to grow and expand its capacity for meeting the comprehensive health care needs of Southeast Texans.

With two conveniently located hospitals – one in Beaumont and one in Port Arthur – The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, a Steward Family Hospital, is positioned to meet patients close to home. Both facilities operate in partnership with Steward Medical Group, the largest physician group in the region after acquiring Southeast Texas Medical Associates (SETMA) in January 2019. This partnership between hospital and providers allows for a unified, patient-centric care model.

“I’m proud that we are caring for twice the number of lives today than we were in 2005,” says Craig Desmond, President of The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. “Our footprint here in the Golden Triangle has greatly increased over the years. And our growth is measurable in quality just as it is in quantity. We’ve made significant strides by enhancing our quality and performance in recent surveys, and we are more committed than ever to being the health care provider of choice and serving the health and wellness needs for Southeast Texas.”

Whether Southeast Texans need a family doctor, emergency care, or a specialist, they can count on The Medical Center of Southeast Texas for all health care needs. The hospitals’ facilities run on the most advanced EMR (electronic medical record) technology, allowing for seamless communication of critical patient data between our local hospitals and physicians.

“Our mission is to always focus on patients first, and we will continue expanding our services to the people of Port Arthur, Beaumont, and beyond,” says Desmond. “We believe patients should be able to get the care they need – whether primary, specialized, or emergent – in their own backyards. We’re proud to stand behind this commitment to the people of our community.”
